Hi there!
I’m a self-taught baker, keen home cook, food writer, avid reader, Mum to a nine-year-old daughter, and wife to a naval officer. I’m from New Zealand but currently living in Brussels, Belgium, and loving every minute of it (despite the almost permenant grey skies in Belgium and having to stand around in high-heels at cocktail parties on a regular basis).
I spend my time cooking for dinner parties (which I love), cooking dinner for the family (not so keen on doing that every night but they always seem to want to be fed!), eating chocolate and waffles (it is Belgium after all!), shopping at our local farmers market and lunching with friends from all over the world. We travel as much as we can, making the most of our time living in the centre of Europe, and I love exploring the food and culture of a new country.
I’ve published two baking books, Alice in Bakingland: Delicious, decadent and daring (Harper Collins, NZ 2013) and Bake Me Home: Delicious everyday occasions (Harper Collins, NZ 2015). When living in New Zealand, I was the baking contributor for Cuisine magazine and the craft editor for New Zealand Women’s Weekly. I was also a contestant on the 2012 season of New Zealand’s Hottest Home Baker.
